damn. when transferring files, i overwrote my firefox bookmark file. well…it’s a true rebuild lol. hate it when that happens.
on a lighter note, time for a new year’s eve celebration. put on your party hats, people!

lollers (the female betta who’s home is a large vase at work) has a new lounging spot. at least, that’s how it appears right now. i had cut a sprig from my “lucky bamboo” plant and was trying to grow another plant. i decided to give lollers some structure in her bowl, and placed the cutting in with her. the top of the cutting sits high enough to get CO2, but low enough to let some of the leaves hang in the water.
right now, lollers is parked on a leaf watching me work. fish are fascinating animals.

there are awesome images of galaxies M81 and M82. the astronomy picture of the day site has more details.

…for all men to come to the aid of their country. i think that applies to the world too.
on a completely different note, this post actually is from my newly upgraded laptop. have i mentioned the boyfriend got me a rockin’ fast hard drive (for the laptop) for christmas? lollers.
speaking of lollers, i got fish this past weekend. 2 siamese fighting fish (scientifically known as betta splendens). i haven’t re-installed photoChop yet, so the pics are a little huge. the smaller, white one with red fins is the female–her name is lollers. the larger one with vibrant red fins is the male–his name is nigg0r.
so i’ve done quite a bit of reading up on caring for fish. i couldn’t keep the male and female in the same tank (which the boyfriend bought me for christmas–he rocks, y0!), so i took lollers to work in a large vase (no plants…just the fish). hopefully, i will learn better methods for taking pictures.
the male is extremely active. he’s very healthy. i’ve never seen such an active betta! so it’s quite enjoyable (zen, even!) to sit back, relax, and watch my fish…and perhaps ponder his perspective.

green tea is actually beneficial to your health! the only catch is you have to drink a good bit of it each day to reap the benefits…or so it is said.
Given all the evidence, it is probably safe to plan on drinking four to five cups of green tea per daily. If you’re a real devotee, by all means drink more; but whether or not you’ll derive added health benefits remains to be determined by further research.
man…that’s a lot of green tea. i think drinking that much water might have more benefits. it’s still interesting in theory though. it’s a better alternative as a caffeine intake (less caffeine than coffee, coke, etc.).
Note: this was not posted from my newly rebuilt laptop because by the time i got it rebuilt, i was too tired to share my elation with the speed of the new hard drive. my boyfriend rocks my world!

the next post you read will be posted from my upgraded laptop. the boyfriend got me a 7200rpm 60gb hard drive for it, and now is the time to install it (took awhile to backup music and other files). i can’t wait to get it in and try it out.

happy holidays to everyone!!
i used to be very pretentious about christmas time. in my sheltered world, i was taught that Christ is the only reason for Christmas and that “we shouldn’t let them take the Christ out of Christmas!!” i was so struck by that, that i refused to take anyone else’s alternative relgious choices into consideration when wishing them well for the holidays. i resolved that i would say “merry christmas” because that is what i believe and that is what is true!
lol.
that was several/many years ago. now, i understand and am more open-minded about things. it’s not all about me and what i believe–especially not around the holidays. you should be considerate of other people and their beliefs all year round , in fact!!!
my upbringing was very close-minded… while i understand some of the intent, the means do not justify the end.
fascinating how your perspective changes as the amount of information i have goes up.

So today has been a bit productive… i’ve got a great design idea for this blog. when i get home, after wrapping a ton of presents, i’ll begin photoChopping and see what i can come up with. it’s gonna be cool.

damn. as of 1/1/05, blockbuster won’t be charging late fees on anything. if you keep the rental 7+ days, they charge you for buying the rental. bet they’ll lose a ton of money doin’ that. i know they get at least $10-15 off my household alone in late fees.

been playing with some different colors and tweaks to this skin, but i’m not a big fan. maybe this weekend, i’ll get down and dirty and actually work on a full fledged design.
maybe… i want to, but there are so many things to do. not to mention the traditional family hopping required this weekend.
and i have to work tomorrow. the office is officially closed, but the IT dept has an “obligation to the business to have someone in the office” on days when anyone else is working. talk about scrooge. everyone else will have the day off…but not me and 2 other people who are coerced into working.
the only reason i volunteered is no one else would do it. i know that doesn’t obligate me, but i tend to pick up the things that no one else wants… my boss likes that i think. in a job, you do things you don’t want to sometimes. that’s why it’s called “work” and not “fun.”
but enough rambling…i’m going back to my web surfing and random working on this blog.

“i keep my passwords on a piece of paper on my desk and now i can’t find it”
“can you give me my password? it’s the e04 one…”
i wonder why security isn’t even a thought in many peoples’ minds…especially when you’re dealing with customer’s loan information (which includes highly sensitive personal information)!!!

i’m now officially a senior. all grades are finally in and i got my 4.0 for the semester. whew! next semester may not be so glamorous.
anyone have any links/resources for a genetic algorithm? my senior project is to write a scheduling optimization program (for scheduling faculty and classes to rooms on campus within a reasonable distance and timing, etc.). 2 semesters to figure this stuff out.

i could really use some sort of laptop desk like this airdesk. right now, if i spend too much time on the laptop, my neck and back hurt for a week. one day…i’ll get one. i’ll get the mousepad attachment as well.

alas, the time has come to host my own blog. no more livejournal. it was good to me, but it’s time to move on to greater things.
welcome in.
