IntAr-konnected!

in the past week or two, i’ve come to the stark realization of how interconnected we already are. it’s not only the Internet that brings us together, but technology in general. the technology that transports oil/natural gas/food/power/water across the country is an incredible thing. katrina has affected everyone in the country, particularly in terms of gas prices. i found that extremely intriguing considering how regional we americans can be sometimes.

i believe the more technology we have, the more interconnected we become, and thus the more dependent on each other we become. a disaster that hits 1 or 2 american states can affect the entire country in addition to the impact it might have on the rest of the world. for instance, when the power was cut in L.A. the other day, i thought nothing of it. didn’t seem to affect me, so i didn’t concern myself with it. little did i know that that power outage was the reason i could get into my personal e-mail, blog, or to my webhost for 4-5 hours that day. got an e-mail from my webhost today explaining the outage (they had power backup, but, conveniently, that failed as well).

on a completely different note, world of warcraft is my latest addiction. i didn’t think i’d be addicted, but when i wake up, that’s what i want to play. i…MUST…level…up!!!!! HARR!!
