comments.

ok.  so i apologize for all those that posted comments in the last year.  i have been a total slacker in moderating my comments.  the comment spam got so bad that i simply quit moderating…not expecting that anyone was reading my blog these days.  i apologize for making assumptions.

i have now cleaned out all spam, and approved all actual comments.  whew.  what a job!

as for updates, things on the home front are good.  better than i realize sometimes.  i have recently gone out with a couple of friends (seperately) who have bigger problems than i.  and they have helped me realize (without knowing it, i’m sure) that my life is not so difficult.

i encourage you to remember that yours is not the worst it could be.

i’m batman!

KagaJunichi has some really neat photos of, what seem to be asian, “action figures.”  they’re more lego-like, and really entertaining.  the batman figures were the most interesting considering they range from the old batman to the new batman.

tired

i’m tired of trying.
i’m tired of not trying.
i’m tired of thinking.
i’m tired of searching.
i’m tired of coming up empty-handed.

i’m tired of working.
i’m tired of reading.
i’m tired of writing.
i’m tired of being.
i’m tired of not wanting to be tired.

i feel like things are becoming too routine. i’m feeling lazy, but when i muster up some motivation, i lose sight of it and crumble.

or perhaps it’s just the hormones that come around this time of month.

i need to fix my car this weekend.

carrot on a stick lol

no…i’m not talking about the trinket in WoW.

i’m talking about a blog post by uncle bob (aka robert c. martin, author) about the misuse of this phrase.  i wholeheartedly agree that people these days don’t use it (in addition to many other words and phrases) correctly.

and i agree that “irregardless” is ridonkculous!

not a country bumpkin

i realized on friday how much of a suburbanite i am.  (i hesitate to say “city girl” because i know that has different meaning for those who live in large cities.  while i live in the city, i do not live in a large city by comparison)  i went to see a friend friday night, and i’d been out to his house a few times, but hadn’t driven there by myself.  whew.  now i know why.

first, you have to understand that i work at the southwest edge of the city to begin with, and live at the northeast edge of the city.  so my initial journey is (should’ve been) about half what it would be if i went to see this person from my home.

i leave work hoping my travel time will be around 30 minutes.  nay.  first, i’m not 100% sure of where i’m going.  and unlike in the city, there aren’t many major roads that connect without having to take much smaller, lesser known country roads.  taking these roads, in addition to a wrong turn or two, converted my journey into over an hour long drive.

but, that’s not the part that made me appreciated more developed areas.  on my way out there, i had to get gas and cash.  finding a gas station that wasn’t completely run down, and one that had an atm was quite a challenge.  i ended up stopping at the most convenient gas station…boy was i in for a surprise.  they didn’t have nearly the conveniences to which i’ve grown accustomed.

they didn’t have:

  • pay-at-the-pump
  • an atm
  • ability to pay with debit card (and thus get cash back)
  • anything higher than octane 92
  • a lack of gawking hispanic males

i certainly realized how much i enjoyed living in developed areas and having access to newer establishments.  i’m the first to admit that i’m totally spoiled.  i’ve spent my entire life in the suburbs, so this should be expected.  i may gripe about developers cutting down trees and building up farm lands with strip malls and restaurants, but i sure do take advantage of those conveniences.
