ie7 is still a world away from changing my mind about firefox being the winner. i installed the final release of IE7 the other day on my work computer. i’ve had the beta on my home machine for a couple of weeks, and was moderately impressed with the improvements over ie6.
after regular use of ie7 at work, i’m not as impressed. the tabbed browsing seems to be slow. there’s this weird hesitation at times that i can’t describe any other way. not sure if it’s because of the tabbed browsing or what. sometimes the wheel scrolling on my mouse doesn’t respond quite right either.
as for firefox 2.0, i keep discovering why i love this browser so much. i recently noticed that i was getting a red dotted line under some text in textboxes/fields. today, i right-clicked on one of them, and found that FF was spell checking for me!!! OMG that’s cool. not to mention, tabbed browsing is totally responsive, as usual.
FF is still the only browser for me! <3

the weekend was good. i like having an extra hour on a sunday morning to recover from my saturday night. we hit up a costume party on saturday, and had a blast. as soon as i get pics from the people who had cameras, i’ll see if there are any i can post.
as for this morning, i was in a great mood and am now fighting the aura of monday negativity that hangs around the office. it’s not any one specific person’s fault. it’s just what happens when you come off an absolutely gorgeous weekend like we just had. no worries. i’ll go to yoga tonight, and will be refreshed.
i dug up the weeping willow in the front yard that we killed, and replaced it with a corkscrew willow, which looks really neat. i will post pics of that soon too. i was surprised at how simple it was to dig up the dead tree (it was only 2-3 years old, so not very big), and throw the live tree in the hole. having the right tools (a digging shovel and gloves) makes every job simpler. that’s the first landscaping i’ve done on the house! w00t!

so i installed Firefox yesterday, and i <3 it! the UI is redesigned again (i don’t fuss with themes), and it compact enough and very sleek. so far, i haven’t noticed much in terms of performance, but i just like new toys.
it’s rare that i use any type of plugins. i’m partial to applications working right out of the box, primarily because i don’t want to have to deal with out-of-date addons and such. there are few that i utilize on a regular basis. but i discovered a new one yesterday in my brief perusals of the addons. and i found Performancing, which is a blog editor that’s built into FF. i <3 <3 <3 this tool!!! i can have the blog editor up at the bottom of my browser window, right-click on a page that’s display in the browser, and have the addon add a link for me! YAY!
additionally, i was looking for a 3rd party blogging tool because wordpress has a tendency to fix “bad html” for me, when it’s me trying to modify the layout of a particular post or simply including “
yay for technology!!!

last night when i got home from tai chi, i felt awesome. i couldn’t believe it. it was the same feeling i get after a good yoga practice–energized and in a GREAT mood. i think i’m still feeling the effects of the great workout last night. i think the reason for this feeling is 2-fold: 1. we did some shao-lin last night and 2. i’m getting to the point with “push the mountain” (can’t find a good link that explains this, but this qigong link is a start) where it’s meditative, which makes the whole thing come together for me.
wow. love it. didn’t think i would, but now i do. it finally clicked for me last night. and it only took 6 weeks lol.
on a completely different note, lore sjoberg has an entertaining article on myspace.

i have come across 2 instances of editorial oversights today. the first was a credit union billboard on my drive into work that said, “we’re in it for the member.” haha. that’s what she said! the second oversight was in one of the headlines on google news that said “Apple sells red IPOD AIDS” ahahahahaha.
i’m not right.

i think myspace is super-trendy. it’s a fad that will peak and plateau just like having your own website (90s style, y0! blinky blinky!) and blogging (lj style, yo! whiney whiney). i don’t think myspace will disappear, though i sincerely hope that it evolves to help users learn how to create more aesthetically pleasing content–especially since there’s so little actual content.
about me:
hi! i love < insert religious-like obssession here > and i love my life! and i custom-made this layout from www.freeMySpaceLayoutsPlusSpyware.com!
< insert private-information-divulging survey here>
who i’d like to meet:
anyone and everyone! as long as you’re not a stalker!!!
i don’t apologize for my skepticism. i just think most people on myspace are somewhat ignorant of the consequences of posting such personal information. and i say this coming from the perspective of someone who used to be ignorant. /sigh. i’m not sure what the point of this post is other than to rant about the silliness of myspace.
i will end the post on a positive note. as i’ve looked through friends of friends, i’ve found many people that i haven’t talked to in a long time. sure there’s a reason (proximity, convenience, bad experience), but that doesn’t mean i have to cling to any bitter feelings i might’ve had so long ago. i was bitter. i didn’t want to be friends with many of those people at one time. but this week, i found it strange that i was still holding onto a smidgen of those feelings. so i cast them off. hopefully, those people will still have a willingness to be my myspace friend lol.
lololololololol.

today was surprisingly productive. my man and i cleaned our room, and he helped with laundry (yay!). i also worked on a signature graphic for his WoW character. he had given me screenshots at 2 different points in his progress (tier 1 vs. tier 2 gear).
here’s the one with the tier 1 gear:

i was just playin’ around and he thought it was hilarious.
so here’s the 2nd, more serious one:

this one was a lot more fun, and took a lot longer. i got to delve into photoshop CS2 for the first time. in fact, it’s the first time in a looooong time that i’ve created anything from scratch like that in photoChop. it was a lot of fun to exert some creativity.
w00t!

i’ve been writing this post since 8pm this evening. “but…you were in yoga at 8pm,” you proclaim. well yes. many posts have been written started on my yoga mat, but few make it through to completion (much less any typing at all). i decided that tonight, i should complete a yoga-inspired post for once.

i wasn’t going to go to yoga. i was SO close to not going that i even had a beer with my co-workers, but i exercised restraint (OMG!) and went to yoga despite my body’s resistance.
go towards the resistance. embrace the resistance.
yoga practice was hard, but amazing all at the same time. i had already convinced myself to take it easy. i haven’t been to yoga in 1.5 weeks, which means my body is a little out of rhythm. steve (the owner of the studio i go to) taught the class. he’s an older man (maybe in his 50s), but you can tell he’s been doing yoga for a while–we’ll just say, very well built. like most yoga teachers, he had a certain air about him. he was an instructor (physical) and a guide (spiritual). (from a woman’s point of view) it’s very interesting to get that kind of a feeling from a man.
practice ended. my weight melted into the mat. embrace the non-resistance.
my soul is cleansed. my energy is more pure than it was when i left work. and i feel enlightened once more. waxing poetic. tonight, i was the entire universe and nothing, all at the same time.

i think quizzes like this are silly, but mildly entertaining.

You scored as Confucius. You are Confucius. Live and let live in peace and harmony, that’s your motto.
What Philosopher are you? |
i had to choose a preference between the following since i tied to be plato and confucius:
1 Ignorance, the root and the stem of every evil. 2 When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves.
lolololol. if you can’t tell, i chose the latter option.

i haven’t posted much this week because i’ve actually been busy running around chicago with my coworker. it’s certainly been interesting considering i’m pretty picky about who i travel with.
in other news, i dreamt last night that i ran into my stalker in chicago. this is the second time i’ve had this dream (though not specific to chicago). i’m not one to read too much into dreams because i think dreams are just your subconscious’s way of dealing with (or interpretting) reality. it was just really freaky–scared me a little. though my stalker never got violent towards me directly, i was nervous about how far the situation would go considering some of the actions he took. it was an unfortunate situation. in fact, we’re upon the 2 yr anniversary of all that drama.
but enough about that. i will be home soon, and i can’t wait. it will be very good to settle down for a couple of weeks before i have to go to the beach with charlie’s gi-normous family for thanksgiving.

so far, so good in chicago. i miss home already. i don’t really feel like i got to spend any time at home (1 week at home isn’t ever enough!). and i really am going to miss vegging out in front of the TV….though i could get that here too. but there’s too much to see, as is evident by my pix. and that’s not including the ones that i took with my travel companion’s camera (which is a huge upgrade to my crappy little thing). /sigh.
